On February 6th, the Eastern Groomer left home base in Grandview without the drag to start opening up trails. The groomer opened up the 313 through Orwell and Vernon River. Then proceeded back on the 313 to the 425 and opened the 425 from the Macrae road to floating bridge. The groomer then returned on the same trail heading back to home base to hook onto the drag. Once the drag was hooked on the groomer left on the 313 back towards 425 and floating bridge. The machine was put to the test with large drifts and deep snow. The groomer returned to Grandview for fuel and then proceeded to the 313 to Orwell before having mechanical issues, which caused it to return back to home base early Friday. These issues have been address today, Saturday February 10th, and the groomer will head back out once the temperature drops back down below freezing and snow conditions are right.
