GROOMER REPORTS

Central Groomer

Central Groomer left Winsloe Saturday evening and started to repair the trail to emerald after the traffic the was on it from the day.  Lots of sleds thru this area heading in both directions.  We decided to adjust where we were going to run again as for the traffic .  We ran the groomer to emerald and turned back to head to Mt Stewart to aid in the east efforts to get there system set for Sunday and the majority of the sleds heading that way.  We will be doing the same overnight Sunday and are planning to pass the north side trail on Monday.  Weather is not looking favorable towards Wednesday or Friday with rain forecasted on different weather models.  Just spoke to a crew from Tignish that left Winsloe this morning at 830 and returned at 730 and said it was really good.  It was getting a little choppy on the way back but met a bunch of sleds all day.. We can make a great system when we have the weather and conditions to do so. Still seeing alot of traffic in center of the trails.  Please stay to the right or we will have to start cutting the trail to get the bumps out of it and that we really hurt it with what is covering it in some areas.  I hope everyone enjoys what we have been doing and give the operators a thumbs up when seen on the trails.  Sled safe.  Stay Right.  What for the flashing lights at night.

Eastern 1 Trail

The eastern Groomer left on Thursday morning heading west towards Toy Master from Harmony Junction and things were going well until we hit the blueberry fields between Morell and Mt. Stewart. Ended up being stuck and after several hours of shoveling snow and some assistance from G@P Trucking in St. Peter’s we were on our way again to Charlottetown. Arrived in Charlottetown through the night, fueled up and then back to Mt. Stewart before going East into Georgetown and Montague on the Route # 103 before returning back to Mt. Stewart and heading back East on the #100 towards the Ashton intersection. Groomer then headed down the #221 from Ashton down to Cardigan and did the Lorne Valley trail (#311). Groomer is still running as I post this and will continue heading back to Ashton before heading East again for Elmira and Elliot’s on the new trail #225. Trails are improving but we could still use more snow, especially on the cross- country trails. Groomer has been running for close to 40 consecutive hours now and hopefully the trails keep improving.

Island 4 Trail

What a busy weekend across all PEISA Trail Systems. The trails were well used by all of our members and unfortunately that big storm they talked about for 6 days disappeared and now we can still hope for the next big one!!! As we all know we need more snow from west to east. The #4 Groomer has had better weekends. We left Friday night around 9.00 planning to have a big night of grooming but sensors started acting up and we were forced to return to home base or risk having the groomer broke down on the trail. Repairs were made early Saturday morning and the groomer headed east on the #104 down to Murray Harbour and into Ocean Acres. It returned the same route and stopped for the day because of the amount of sleds on the trails. The groomer then left Saturday night around 10.00 pm heading towards Mt. Stewart on the #104. It was able to do a single pass up through Lake Verde and into Mt. Stewart before heading down the #103 towards Georgetown. The hose that lifts the front of the drag would not stay in the coupler and therefore it became very difficult to cross roads and use without leaving large amounts of snow on the roads. We finally had to quit and limp the groomer back to home base. Repairs have been made and it will be leaving this evening

KASA

Thawed out, greased up and a wheel bearing fixed. Groomer will be going out in the morning to groom Springvalley once wind dies down as you would hardly know it was groomed last night.

Springside Trail

WOW , what a great weekend of riding and what a turnout at the cabin on Saturday , as a result our trails were well used to say the least. Groomer left home base last night , took the 301 to the 209 into Crapaud and then through to the 101 in Albany. It will then head into Borden and Kinkora before turning and going back to the 209. Then heading over to Fredericton on the 211 to meet the 100 on the railbed. Please ride safe , ride right with your permits on and watch for the flashing lights. Happy Islander day!

Western Trail

Western groomer headed East on the #100 Tuesday afternoon with the Roller. A double pass was made all the way down to Miscouche before turning and heading back West. The trail into Grand River from the Western end (Route#204) was also given a double pass with the roller. Throughout the night the Groomer traveled to Tignish and then also did a double pass on the Piusville Trail (Route #203) The operator said this trail was still very rough with more snow required to make a good job. It is very hard running on frozen ground with these groomers so it will need more snow before it can be done again. The operator also did a double pass into the Mill River Resort (Route#202) with the roller and he indicated the same thing it can still use more snow. Late this afternoon (Wednesday) the groomer left Coleman headed east towards Miscouche again with the drag, doing Trail #100 and through the night it will be heading West to Tignish also on the #100. More updates to follow later
