GROOMER REPORTS
Central Trail
Central Groomer left Wednesday morning and headed west (100 West) with the drag on to try to bring some snow in from the sides of the trail. Operator reported that this was working well until about the Emerald area and the snow started to dwindle off. Kept going thru Kensington area and to Miscouche. Feilds around Summerside are passable but proceed slowly as some are plowed and still feel the ruts underneath. Busted thru the power line around Slemon Park as it always drifts in and continued to Misouche and turned for the Grand River trail. Field is still bared down for the majority so will assess when we get more snow again. Turned and headed back toward Emerald and onto Kinkora. We are doing a small section into O'shea's Restaurant now as we obtained permission. Driver turned and proceeded back toward Charlottetown where we did a driver change and did the railbed to Mt. Stewart (100 East). Some areas in Dunstaffanage\Bedford had some hard drifts so watch out. Cut them both ways so stay to trail in areas mentioned. Returned to Charlottetown and did the small section in to Coach's restaurant and finished in Winsloe. Little snow over night will help with the lube and cooling. Plan is to go over North Side Trail (212) later this evening overnight as the temps drop and assess farther from there. Sled safe. Stay right. Watch out for Groomers. Enjoy the product that these guys are making for everyone
Eastern Grooming
The Groomer left early Friday morning and did the #305 to Munn's Road, then turned around and did it again. At the intersection of the $305 and #425 it then did the #425 with a double pass. Came back through the #305 before hooking onto the #313 and doing to trail #217 in Vernon. Did a double pass down to Vernon also on the #217 and then back for fuel. The plan is to do another pass through the night on the #305 so it will hopefully allow it to set up better and not be as loose.
Eastern 1 Trail
After finishing up all of our trail system on Saturday morning the groomer went into the shop to be thawed out and checked over. After some minor repairs and maintenance the groomer left Harmony Junction heading for Mt. Stewart on the #100 West. Turned at Mt. Stewart and went down the #103 into Georgetown and then the #222 into Montague before heading back on the #103 but also did a double pass on the #311 in Lorne Valley before heading back to Mt. Stewart and then back through Morell and St. Peter's to Harmon Junction where we will wait till the temperatures get colder before resuming grooming trails. Hopefully this mild spell will be short lived.
Island #4 Trail
This groomer has been very active all week, mostly at night with the warmer day time temperatures we have had lately. As I write this report Saturday morning) all trails in the Eastern Trail System have been groomed several times since last holiday weekend. The #104 from Mt. Stewart to Murray Harbor has been done has been done three times (6 passes) since last Monday including Friday night in the cold temperatures. The #221 (Cross country from Uigg to New Perth) has also been done 3 times (6 passes) since last Monday and there is plenty of snow on this trail. The #103 from Pisquid River to Georgetown has also been done a couple of times including as extra pass between New Perth and Pisquid River. Trail # 105 from Lake Verde to Mt. Herbert has also had a couple of passes this week All reports indicate the trails are in great shape and should hold up well with the expected heavy traffic on Saturday. The PEISA interactive Map is having technical issues so the groomer is not marking the trail live. We are hoping to have this issue resolved shortly.
KASA Trail
January 29 Today the groomer completed the 208 from the cell tower in Kensington to the railbed in Fredericton. Along with the 304 through margate, the 308 to rustico and the 404 into Stanley bridge. There is minimal snow in many areas but the trail is shaping up good with what we have to work with
Springside Trail
Groomer left home base last night and took the 301 over to the 209 , went into the Red Rooster turned and then back to the 209 and over to Albany where he did the 101 into Kinkora turned and went back to the 209 , through Crapaud to the 301 and then home base. If you are out , ride safe , ride right and watch for the flashing lights !
Western Trail
The groomer is doing the West Point Loop and then it will be doing the Piusville Loop and the trail to Mill River. So if you are out and about watch for the night flashing lights.
