GROOMER REPORTS

Central Trail

It was a cold and sunny saturday after we got the trails open.  Traffic reports from sledders were all positive on how good trail systems were everywhere.  Good job to all those operators.  We decided to try to do a quick pass over the heavily travelled area overnight into saturday.  Groomer left saturday evening and did a single pass over the north side trail and turned to emerald.  Operator noted no trees down unlike friday night.  Driver turned in emerald and widened back towards town.  Groomer will be parked on Sunday and placed inside to thaw and get greased.  We will access what we get for snow overnight tonight and make a call for monday.  Hoping we get at least 15cms on top of what we have.  Days are getting longer and sun is getting stronger.  Traffic is up in all areas so be aware.  Stay to the right.  Driving in the middle hurts everyone.  Sled safe and hope for more snow

Eastern Grooming

Groomer left on Tuesday afternoon with the drag, only panning the fluffy snow. We did the #305 from Greenfield down to the #104 in Murray River. Then traveled to Murray Harbor before returning back the same route. Throughout the night the groomer also did a double pass on the #425 before returning to home base early this morning. Groomer left again this morning and did a double pass on the #313 through Orwell and Vernon River as well as doing trail #217 down to Vernon. After fueling up it once again went down the #305 to Murray River with the drag actually doing the right job. I was on the trail this evening and it turned out beautiful. Still could use a little more snow in the fields and some of the narrow woods trails that is hard for the snow to get into because of the tree coverage. Plan is to go tomorrow morning and drag the #425 again and go all the way int Murray Harbor

Eastern 1 Trail

Groomer is still running, and has been since early Wednesday morning. The groomer made a couple of passes on the #217 through Greenfield on Wednesday night and then headed into Georgetown on the #103 and Montague on the #222. After returning to Cardigan for fuel it headed up the #221 and had to unhook and break down banks and drifts through the Hazelgreen Road and on Trail # 311 through Lorne Valley. After getting this done it went back and hooked onto the drag and did all of this again before heading towards Ashton. Groomer went throughout the night Thursday and did double passes on Trail # 100 from Harmony Junction to Elmira and then doing Trail # 225 from Elmira back into Souris. After completing this section groomer headed back towards Mt. Stewart to give a couple more passes on this portion of Trail # 100. After turning around in Mt. Stewart the plan is to return back to Ashton and then make another couple of passes on the #221 back to Cardigan through Dundas. If all goes well all trails will have between 2 and 4 passes on them by Friday evening

Island # 4 Trail

It was very nice to see the new snow from Wednesday and Thursday. Down here in the east we received between 15-20 cm and it sure has made a difference in the snow conditions. The roller left on Thursday (While still snowing heavy) to pack the snow down and hopefully allow more to fill in. We went from Grandview to Mt. Stewart and into Tracadie before returning and rolling up to St. Peters with the main goal to press the snow down on these places that are difficult to hold the snow. We returned to Mt. Stewart and then rolled into Georgetown on the #103 and back to New Perth intersection before rolling the #217 and heading back to Grandview where we changed drivers and hooked the drag on. Did the #104 from Grandview to Murray Harbor and then back all the way to Mt. Stewart and then into Georgetown and Montague on the #103 and #222. Then returned back through Lake Verde on the #104. Did a double pass on the #105 into Mt. Herbert and then back on the #104 to Uigg where we took the #217 through Greenfield and all the way to New Perth. Turned around there and did another pass on this section of trail. As I write this report the groomer has been running for almost 36 straight hours. We are going to do a driver change around 10.00 pm and keep going through the night doing the #104 again to Murray Harbor as well as the #305A before returning and doing the $217 again when hopefully no one is on the trail and it has time to set up on this cold Friday night. The new snow is great but it does not set up real well until we have a couple of passes over it. The plan is to go through the night tonight and take a break tomorrow day and then back at it tomorrow (Saturday) night. For those planning to sled in the East on the Holiday Monday the following restaurant partners are going to be open Ocean Acres (The Deck Restaurant) Wood Island Cafe Express Holy Cow in Morell Fortune Diner on Route #315 (new Trail off the #221) Red Claw Bistro in Souris

KASA Trail

January 20 This morning the groomer and a couple guys went out to Warburton trail 208 to clean up the fallen tree and get the trail groomed to the railbed in Fredericton. Then continued grooming on trail 306 onto the 406 in french River and over to Springvalley on the 402. With minimal snow in areas after compacting a base we will assess in a few days after some drifting when and where we will start a second pass.

Springside Trails

As of this writing all of our trails have been opened. From the Cabin to 301 to 209 into Crapaud is reported as excellent. Groomer was out and busted drifts into both Borden, and Kinkora last night with just the pan. As a result it is a little bumpy, so ride with caution. The rest of our trails are now being gone over with the drag and he hopes to have them all in excellent shape for the weekend. Remember we are nearly into March, and the trails get pretty soft during the mild daytime highs. Ride respectfully and they will last much longer. Until the next update , ride right , with your passes on and watch for the flashing lights.

Western Trail

The groomer went to Tignish yesterday with the packer on and just returned to home base from Miscouche.
