GROOMER REPORTS

Central Groomer

Central Has been running just not able to post til now.  Ran thru the week before we got the snow and drifting again on Wednesday\Thursday.  Groomer left Charlottetown on Friday morning and headed to Summerside.  Areas were drifted in but the snow is soft and sugary so was able to get thru easily.  Noticing so trespassing in areas where we dont have permission to use.  This is the number one reason why we lose trails.  please stick to the trails when at all possible.  Snow is lacking in the western part of the province and get really slack in Kensington.  Turned at the grain elevators just past Kensington and proceeded to Borden.  Only a few areas on the way there that the snow is sparse but being told it  is good overall.  Returned to Emerald and came back to Charlottetown to open to coach's, Check out there sledder specials (take your helmet with you)  they had save the tax.  When out be sure to thank the sponsors as they appreciate the business from the sledders.  Its been slow the last few seasons so anything is great.  The North Side trail(212) was opened last week when the snow was dropping with the warm temps and did another pass early saturday morning.  With the long weekend ahead there will be lots of traffic so slow down  stay to the right enjoy the outdoors and sled safe.  Plan to do another maintenence run later this weekend and will adjust areas as need by what the traffic patterns show.  Thank to all the groomer operators across the island.  We had a few emails about inquiring about grooming and will try to get back to people when time permits and have them in with people when time permits as well

Eastern # 1 February 26 Update

The heavy rain on Saturday did not end the season as some had expected but it did make it harder to do some of the fields. Groomer # 1 left Grandview on Sunday evening and headed down the #104 from Grandview to Murray Harbour giving one pass to the Munn's Road and a double pass from Munn's Road to Murray Harbour and back. Groomer then followed the # 305 through the County Line Road back to Greenfield. It then headed to New Perth on the # 217 but we had to skip a couple of the fields in Greenfield because of water issues in the farmers fields. Hooked back on to the trail on the Mellish Pond Road and continued on to New Perth where we went to Georgetown on the # 103 and into Montague before returning early this morning to Grandview on the 217. Like I said a couple of the fields in Greenfield were not groomed but the majority was done and should be in good shape for the next couple of days before the real mild weather comes and hopefully doesn't completely destroy everything but it is going to be hard to keep the trail system with the expected weather forecast. If you are out enjoying the trails please ride safe and keep to the right.

Island 4 Trail

The groomer left early Tuesday morning with the roller doing some of the cross-country trails (Route#217) through Greenfield. Hoping to pack the snow and then hopefully it would drift back in. Then rolled into Georgetown (#103) and into Montague (#222). Then went with the roller back on the #103 into Mt. Stewart before returning to New Perth and did the #217 for the second time with the roller. This trail was done with 3 passes during last night’s coldest part of the night. Upon returning to Grandview for fuel it took the roller off and hooked onto the drag where it did the #104 through Lake Verde and into Mt. Stewart. It then returned back to Lake Verde and went to Mt. Herbert on the #105 with a double pass of the drag. Tonight, the groomer is heading towards Murray River on the #104 and will be returning through the night to Grandview. Groomer will be leaving very early tomorrow morning (Thursday) to do the #217 through Greenfield with the drag and then will also be going into Georgetown and Montague before going back to Mt. Stewart and finally coming back to Grandview again on the #217. Trails have set up excellent with all of the passes. We will continue to work them as much as possible

KASA

Yesterday and last night the groomer was over all our trail system. Rustico way seemed to have the nicest straight down snow to work with. The fields to the cell tower and out through French River had a bit less but still enough to work with. And as we got to the dirt roads in Springvalley we ran into some major hard packed drifting and spent some time widening the roads out and making room for the next storm.

Springside Trail

Groomer was out last night and did from home base to the 301 up to the tee intersection of 209/211. Took the 209 over to Crapaud and up to the Red Rooster , turned and then continued on the 209 to the railbed 101 in Albany , then into Borden and busted down some large drifts, before turning and going into Kinkora. From Kinkora he continued back to the 209, then through to the 211 over to Brookvale and onto Fredericton. He turned here and did a second pass back on the 211 to the 301 and back to home base. Tonight he is going to do the New Haven loop 409 , then the 301 over to the 315 into Cornwall and the 317 into North River. Hoping if all goes well all of our trails will be done by tomorrow, including the 213 to the railbed and into Clow's both ways east\west. Ride Safe , ride right, with your permits on, and watch for the flashing lights!

Western Trail

The groomer is headed East to Miscouche with the drag on and when it comes back it will head West to Tignish.   It also went around the Piusville Loop and Mill River resort with the packer. It will not be grooming these 2 trails again until more snow as they are rough.  Watch for the flashing lights tonight
