GROOMER REPORTS

Central Trail

Central Groomer left Winsloe Saturday morning and proceeded to Summerside on 100 East.  We were finally able to try a pass around the fields thru summerside area.  Still marginal snow cover in the potato fields.  We turned at Linkletters and came back to Emerald and did out to Borden before returning to Emerald for fuel and Operator Changes.  Driver then came towards Charlottetown and kept going to Mount Stewart and returned to Winsloe Early Sunday morning.  Enjoy The Trails.  Hopefully long range weather changes for end of week.  Sled safe.  Stay Right.  We will access the trail the first of the week.  Every little bit of snow helps so we are not trying to process the same stuff.

Eastern # 1 and Island # 4 February 16th Update

by Admin | Feb 16, 2024 | Island 4 Trail Both of these groomers left last night at 8.00 pm after the wind and drifting settled down somewhat. One machine went South on the # 104 to Murray Harbour and returned the same way. It then went in and did a double pass on the #305 A before returning to Grandview Welding for fuel therefore a complete double pass was done on the #104. After fueling, it headed north on the #104 towards Vernon River and took the #217 towards Greenfield before hooking on to the 305 heading back to Murray River on the cross country trail. As I write this report the operator has made the turn and is heading back towards Greenfield on the #305, after which it will head to New Perth on the #217 through Greenfield and then once on the #103 will head to Georgetown and Montague. The second groomer headed towards Greenfield on the #217 and then straight through to New Perth before turning on the #221 heading for Ashton and Souris. The trail is completed with one pass now up to Elmira and it took the new trail from Elmira into Souris (Please note that this trail is not on the interactive map yet but it is well marked if you wish to take this section of trail) and will be returning back to Elmira the same way to ensure everything has a double pass. The # 4 groomer will then be heading back to Ashton on the #100 before taking the #221 back to Cardigan We have the use of a third groomer for a few days and it left this morning from Grandview Welding heading towards Mt. Stewart on the # 104. After getting to Mt. Stewart it will do trail #103 into New Perth with a double cut and then return and do the #105 into Mt. Herbert Please be patient as we work through the trail system. It was in great shape prior to the latest snow and drifting but it will only help in the future having the extra snow. Some sections of the trail will seem loose because of the new powder and it will take a few passes of the drag to help firm it up. With the expected traffic this long weekend on the eastern trail system it will be difficult to make it perfect but we will continue to run as long as possible « Older Entries

Island # 4 Trail

Groomer did not leave on Friday due to mild weather, but left Saturday evening heading down the # 104 towards Murray River, turned at the #305A on the Colville Road because snow is getting scarce on this trail from there to Murray River (needs more snow). Groomer then followed the #305 from County Line to the Munn's Road in Murray River before turning around and heading back towards Greenfield. It will then groom to New Perth on the #217 before returning back to Uigg also on the #217. Hopefully we will get the expected snow this coming week

KASA Trail

Hello everyone, the groomer has been on the go since late last night. It has completed the route from Granville to Rustico and is now getting ready to go out and groom the rest of our trail system. It will be out this morning so please use caution if you are out.

Springside Trail

Groomer left at 9pm last night from home base , did the 301 to the intersection of the 209/211. Proceeded on the 209 to Crapaud , into the red rooster turned and headed on the 209 through to the 101 in Albany , then did the 101 into Borden turned and back to Kinkora on the 101. He then turned here and went back to home base on the same route. Yesterday he did the 301 over to the 409 New Haven loop , then back onto the 301 and into both Cornwall and North River. then back onto the 301 over to the 213 behind Lanks farm to the 100 (railbed) . Turned here and then took the 309 into Clows store and came back on the 309 (near Bluefield) over to the 301 and home. The much welcomed snow is extremely dry, and as a result the trail is not setting up well , the compactor is on and we are hoping to knock some air out of it. Ride right , with your permits on and watch for the flashing lights!
