GROOMER REPORTS
Central Trail
Sorry for not updating as much. Had computer issues. Central Groomer left Winsloe friday morning and began to process the snow we received on thursday. With the ice pellets and freezing rain there was not a whole lot of drifting we made grooming very well. Tracks were breaking up the crust before the drag and the drag was processing very well. Groomer did all the way to the Grand River trail and proceeded back to Emerald. Grabbed some fuel and driver swap and turned for Borden late evening on friday. Cooler temps yesterday kept the traffic low to nil. Only seen one sled from emerald to borden and back. Groomer proceeded back to town and did the finger into Coach's restaurant and return to winsloe for fuel and driver swap. Then proceeded to the North Side Loop and did a pass\return on it as well. We were very fortunate the the drifting wasnt as bad. Will assses the trail use today and possible and quick trip over the higher travelled areas before sunday morning. Warmer temps on Sunday we are expecting higher traffic. Saying this please sled smart. Stay to the right NOT THE MIDDLE. Do not cut the corners. Traffic flows both ways. With the high winds we are getting reports of down trees as well. Please do what you can to assist in removal of these for all sledders. If to big to remove please contact office to make aware. Enjoy the colder temps and great trails. Long weekend please support our sponsors as much as possible. They assist us in what we do. Do the snow dance for sunday\monday and hope for good snowfall and lighter winds to keep it. Grooming is going on all over the island so watch out for groomers and give a wave or check onthem and see if they need anything. Shifts can last up to 14 hours for some of these operators. Thanks to all the groomers across the island for doing what you do. Sled Safe and Stay Right.
Eastern Grooming
On February 14th the groomer left home base on the 313, heading to the Dundee and onto the 425 on route for Heatherdale and floating bridge. This trip was to focus on cutting out some of the hard and packed drifts caused by the mild weather and hard freeze this past weekend. We also hoped by making this run before more snow came it would help to fill in the bare spots on the trail. The groomer made several passes over troubled areas trying to workout a smooth trail. The groomer then returned to home base and will head out once the wind dies down on Friday, February 16th and will do a pass on all Eastern grooming trails before a big weekend of sledding. We will be hosting some grudge races Sunday, February 18th from 12pm to 3pm located at the Greenfield club house. This fundraiser will help to keep the groomer operating so we can have great trails for riding, please stop out to show your support to the Eastern Grooming Committee.
Eastern 1 Trail
The Eastern # 1 Groomer had a very long day yesterday, as I mentioned the groomer was able to finally make it through the #221 to Ashton and then headed East to finish the #100 to Elmira before going back to Mt. Stewart through the night on Thursday as well as to New Perth on the #103, before turning around and heading back to Mt. Stewart and then back towards Souris. We were informed that the Trail # 100 from ST. Peter's to Morell was once again unpassable caused by the drifting snow on Friday. We had to turn around again and do this section of trail for the 4th time in less than 12 hours. Once again the operator was forced to unhook several times to bust down banks on a trail that was just done a few hours before. Thank fully we were able to finish this portion again before heading East again through the night to give Trail # 225 and #321 near Elmira a couple passes of the groomer. The machine will not be running on Saturday as we need to give our operators an much needed break as well we expect to see lots of traffic on the trails. Please everyone have a safe and enjoyable weekend of riding.
Island 4 Trail
As I write this report on Saturday morning, the Island # 4 groomer is still running. As I mentioned yesterday after we got free from the large drifts in the Iona area we were able to make it down to Murray Harbour with the box drag before heading back to Grandview. The #104 from Grandview to Murray Harbour has had two passes of the drag, as well the #305 down the County Line Road has also had two passes and the 305A has also been done with 2 passes. Trail # 217 from Vernon to New Perth through Greenfield has also been done twice yesterday. The #4 Groomer also did the #103 from New Perth to Mt. Stewart and then the #100 from Mt. Stewart into Toymaster and back to New Perth. The groomer will be back in Grandview in a couple of hours and then we will reevaluate to determine Saturday night plans. It has been a busy week and with the exception of 6 hours of being stuck in Iona the groomer has been running non-stop since Wednesday morning so I just wanted to thank the operators for their efforts to time to get the trails in the best shape possible
KASA
Tomorrow is going to be busy on the trails with lots of sleds on the go , the groomer operators have been doing a awesome job getting the trails done and we are very appreciative of them , tomorrow pine tree lodge is having a BBQ and springside is having there Chilli day , with that being said just a reminder that we share the Warburton/Old princetown road trail at the millvale end with some vechicles so be aware of this and it was also brought to my attention that there are 2 cows on the loose in Fredericton area, they were spotted on the rail bed today so be aware of that as well, happy sledding because this Wednesday's forecast isn't looking good , would really appreciate if people would share this post Thank you KASA Well it’s been a long two days between unhooking drag to bust drifts and getting a truck off the trail and just heavy slow going but a pass has been complete on all Kasa trails.
