GROOMER REPORTS
Central Trail
Grooming started Sunday Morning with the groomer heading west towards Summerside. We only did the main railbed past Reids corner as water was still sitting in the fields across from Green Diamond and off the Rail Bed. Groomer came back to Winsloe and did a Driver Change and did the trail towards Borden. We are trying to cut the trail where we can as the mild temp on saturday did more damage to the railbed then the rain did. Groomer Left Winsloe again and went back to Summerside and did the Warburton Road(route 208) and is doing the Grand River trail presently(route 204). The snow is fluff and will easily blow off in areas and will not stick very well. Hopefully in will process well enough to stick to the areas it is needed. Plan is to do a driver change later this evening and go back toward Borden and back to Charlottetown. We are planning to do a double pass on the North Side Trail (route 212) thru the day Tuesday. We plan to try to keep the groomer going as much as we can til the weather shifts later this week. Sled safe as the snow is very hard underneath.

February 10th Update
As we approach 96 consecutive hours of grooming, busting banks and drifts, opening road crossings and moving snow, I am pleased to announce that we are only a couple hours away from having the entire close to 360 kms of the Eastern Trail system open and passable. This has been the toughest test ever of man and steel trying to get trails open. The machines are working on the final leg of the system opening the #305A as I write this report. Yesterday we completed the #105 into Mt. Mellick as well as the #217 from Vernon River to New Perth. After a quick trip on the #103 to Cardigan for fuel the operators began the opening of trail #305 towards Murray Harbour. After making to Ocean Acres they turned around and headed back the same Route trying to widen and smooth the best they could, filling with fuel at Grandview before heading south on Route # 104 towards Murray River. May I remind everyone now that the trails are finally open after 5 days of operating with the box drags that none of the trails have had a pass yet with the drag. The box drags we have been using do a great job of making a trail usable but is definitely not a finished product. Once we get back to home base we will be installing the drags, doing a quick maintenance and making a decision on whether the temperature is suitable for running the drags. With the temperatures going above 0 degrees for the day and a half we may be forced to wait till it gets colder to start again. I assure members that when we do start the groomers and drags will be going steady again to make the trails the best they can possibly be. At this time I want to thank all 7 of the operators who worked tirelessly around the clock to achieve our goal. I am sure they may never want to see miles and miles of nothing but snow drifts and banks 5 feet to 20 feet high again. Just a reminder to those on the trails today and tomorrow it has been up to 4 days on some sections of the trail since the groomer opened some sections up and they may be getting a little rough, but those are the sections we will be heading too first once we start with the drag. Please everyone adjust your speeds for the conditions
Island # 4 February 21 Update
After the busy long weekend on the eastern trail system the Island # 4 left Grandview on Monday February 19th evening heading on the #104 to Uigg where it hopped on to the # 217 through Greenfield going to New Perth and then heading up the #221 to Ashton through Cardigan and Dundas before turning on to the #100 in Ashton and going to Elmira and Souris, also doing the new loop trail from Ashton, this new trail does not have a route # yet but is a excellent mix of unplowed seasonal roads, farmers fields, and some woods trails and makes for a nice loop from Elmira and also allows us to groom to one of our new partners at Elliotts General Store where fuel and snacks are available. Upon returning to Ashton and heading back down the #221 from Ashton to Cardigan the #4 Groomer spent some time in the fields from New Perth to Vernon River on the # 217 before returning to Grandview through the night. Another groomer left early on Tuesday morning and headed towards Mt. Stewart on the #104 through Lake Verde before heading into Toymaster on the #100. After fueling up it returned to Mt. Stewart and then did a double pass from Mt. Stewart to New Perth on the #103 before returning back down the #104 and heading into Mt. Herbert on the #105 with a double pass as well, before returning back to Grandview through the night. At this point all of the Eastern Trail System has been done with double and triple passes and it is all in excellent condition. With the expected cold temperatures for the next couple of days they should stay in good shape. We will evaluate tomorrow to see where we will be heading next
