GROOMER REPORTS

Central Groomer

3 days of busting banks and getting trails open.  We finally were able to get hooked on the drag.  We had it shipped to Summerside to start from there as the western trails have been really good and to allow traffic to get to the two other clubs systems. We ran straight thru from Thursday morning and it is still going.  I want to thank the two clubs for helping out  with Springside cutting some of the drifts to Borden and KASA getting another pass from Summerside to Borden and back to their home base.  Central Groomer ran last night to Mount Stewart and back to Emerald thru out the night.  Driver change this morning (02/10/24) and  the operator is starting to bust the North Side trail (route 212). With the mild temps overnight and Sunday morning we may do another pass on the north side trail.  Land owners are contacting and complaining about trespassing in areas.  We understand people want to be out but by not running where the trail is marked causes us to lose trail sections.  Hoping to get section to coach's restaurant this evening or morning.  I want to thank all operators for there time and dedication over the last 4 days.  Without them we would have nothing.  Give them a thumbs up or check to see if they may need anything.  The trails will get better as we can now process and manicure the trails.  Ice crossings are still an issue and unless we get a cold snap recommend to not use them.  Sled Safe.  Slow down.  Stay Right.  Lets hope we can get steady snow now to improve what we have.

Eastern 1 Trail

The eastern Groomer left on Thursday morning heading west towards Toy Master from Harmony Junction and things were going well until we hit the blueberry fields between Morell and Mt. Stewart. Ended up being stuck and after several hours of shoveling snow and some assistance from G@P Trucking in St. Peter’s we were on our way again to Charlottetown. Arrived in Charlottetown through the night, fueled up and then back to Mt. Stewart before going East into Georgetown and Montague on the Route # 103 before returning back to Mt. Stewart and heading back East on the #100 towards the Ashton intersection. Groomer then headed down the #221 from Ashton down to Cardigan and did the Lorne Valley trail (#311). Groomer is still running as I post this and will continue heading back to Ashton before heading East again for Elmira and Elliot’s on the new trail #225. Trails are improving but we could still use more snow, especially on the cross- country trails. Groomer has been running for close to 40 consecutive hours now and hopefully the trails keep improving.

Island 4 Trail

Island # 4 left from Grandview on Thursday afternoon and headed towards Mt. Stewart on the #104. We also did a pass into Mt. Herbert on the #105 before continuing on to Mt. Stewart, before returning and running all the way down to Murray Harbour and Ocean Acres on the #104. After refueling and switching operators back in Grandview we heading up the #217 through Greenfield and on to the New Perth intersection. Groomer is now heading down the #305 and will also do the #305A throughout the night. The Groomer will not be running through the day on Saturday because of the expected heavy traffic but the plan is to go out on Saturday night and do some freshening up

KASA Trail

Little update for this week so far. Made a pass through the night Saturday into Sunday morning of the 208 from Fredericton to Kensington cell tower for the high traffic area. Monday we groomed French River to Springvalley for all the drifting. And there was lots. This morning made a quick pass from home base in Granville to Kensington cell tower and out to margate and back. Will make a trip to rustico before the weekend.

Springside Trail

Last night Cuddy left home base then up the Appin road to 209 ,and over to Crapaud, and then to Albany to intersection of 101. Turned and came back and went on the 211 to the 100 in Fredericton. From there he returned to home base. Ride with caution as he has fixed some damage created by a tracked atv from the ski park to the red rooster in Crapud. Ride right and watch for flashing lights.
