GROOMER REPORTS

Central Trail

Sorry for not updating over the weekend.  Central trails were all gone over on friday to get ready for the weekend and reports back were good.  Bad in areas with lack of snow and gravel showing in alot of areas but in good shape for the snowfall and traffic that we have had.   Central Groomer left Charlottetown wednesday morning to get the trails ready for the snow that we were calling for.  We were able to get all the railbed complete yesterday up to Linkletter Farms in Summerside and back to Winsloe.  Operator reported little to no traffic which was good to get that base to harden up for the fresh snow.  We started getting the snow last night before he got back into Winsloe and roughly 6-8 inches of fluffy snow now.  Winds are suppose to be high today so drifting will definately occur in the problem areas.  Plan now is to start Friday Morning and getting the railbed complete and north side trail afterwards.  Best thing is for the sleds to drive on this and get the air out of it and pack it so we can process it.  Anyone out today sled safe, take a buddy or make sure you have someone to call if you get stuck.  if stuck on the trail contact the office and let us know so the operators can take care in those areas.  Sled safe, stay to the right and watch for the flashing lights.  Give the operators a wave and thank them when you can.  They are the heart of this operation and we couldnt do it without them.

Eastern Grooming

On February 14th the groomer left home base on the 313, heading to the Dundee and onto the 425 on route for Heatherdale and floating bridge. This trip was to focus on cutting out some of the hard and packed drifts caused by the mild weather and hard freeze this past weekend. We also hoped by making this run before more snow came it would help to fill in the bare spots on the trail. The groomer made several passes over troubled areas trying to workout a smooth trail. The groomer then returned to home base and will head out once the wind dies down on Friday, February 16th and will do a pass on all Eastern grooming trails before a big weekend of sledding. We will be hosting some grudge races Sunday, February 18th from 12pm to 3pm located at the Greenfield club house. This fundraiser will help to keep the groomer operating so we can have great trails for riding, please stop out to show your support to the Eastern Grooming Committee.

Eastern 1 Trail

The groomer left Harmony Junction early on Friday morning heading west towards Mt. Stewart, driver indicated conditions have improved through St. Peter's area. From Mt. Stewart the groomer headed East towards Georgetown on the #103, and then did the #222 into the Montague area. Returning the same way back towards Souris the groomer refueled in St. Peter's and then headed down the #221 in Ashton towards Cardigan. After a double pass on this trail as well as the #311 in Lorne Valley the groomer headed back towards Souris, and then on to Elmira on the # 100. Groomer is now doing Trail # 225 in the Elmira area. With a poker run up east today the trails should be busy so please ride safe

Central Trail

We are still alive!!  Reports have been hard to update with schedule but central groomer is still on the move.  We did some runs last thursday friday saturday with the snow lacking in most spots.  Only the North Side loop (212) were we able to do something with as we are able to pull snow in from around the posts.  With the forecasted weather we opted to hold for more snow before tackling the railbed again.  The snowfall was something but not the amount we wanted.  Started last night on the railbed heading east (100) when the winds tapered off .  Seen the usually drifting in the areas around dunstaffanage and bedford.  Few stuck sleds and one left between Corrigan Rd and Route 2.  Proceed with caution in that area.  Came back and did the 212 and the finger into Coach's.  At this time groomer is headed west on railbed (100).  We have be told of heavy drifting in areas from Colville rd to Hunter River and in Freetown Areas.  Others areas could still have less snow than what we had at the first of the week cause of the winds.  Plan is to run all day today and continue thru the night.  Sun is to be out all weekend so the trails will settle a bit in areas and lose more in others.  If sleds are stuck on the trails please try to move to one side to allow the groomers to pass.  If assistance is need please email and let us know.  Sled Safe. Stay to the right.  Watch out for groomers.  Check on them from time to time.  Will update later when check in with operators
