GROOMER REPORTS

Central Trail 01/20/26

Central Groomer has been busy the last few weeks.  Groomer has been on the go rolling with the new roller packer when it was fit to do so.  It has gone a few times on tree clean up over the rail bed the last two weeks.  I want to thank the volunteers that helped out on the weekends to assist the board memebers in trail clean up.  With the last snow fall we decided it is time to fill in the ditchs and areas on the north side trail (212).  Groomer left here yesterday morning and returned late evening.  We did a driver swap and proceeded west on the railbed (100) to miscouche.  Operator noted less snowfall in summerside area so proceed with caution in the fields and areas surrounding.  On returning from there he turned and went to Kinkora and then returned east on railbed.  Groomer will be heading east to get the remainng railbed (100) this morning.  Reports on the grooming are positive in all areas.  Routes have changed so be patient, they will get done and adjusted with the changes.  Sled safe.  Stay right.  Lets hope we get more snowfall in the next few days so the drags can do there job and give the product we know we can give.

Eastern Grooming

Groomer left last night and did Trail # 307 and #313 through Lyndale and Dundee Road. Then traveled down the #305 through Caledonia and down to the Munn's Road near Murray River before returning the same route, This trail is still in decent shape as it is mostly fields and unplowed roads therefore it can be groomed a little wider and we do not see as much gravel or red clay. The entire trail system still needs some more snow, and hopefully it will arrive soon

Eastern 1 Trail

The Eastern # 1 Groomer had a very long day yesterday, as I mentioned the groomer was able to finally make it through the #221 to Ashton and then headed East to finish the #100 to Elmira before going back to Mt. Stewart through the night on Thursday as well as to New Perth on the #103, before turning around and heading back to Mt. Stewart and then back towards Souris. We were informed that the Trail # 100 from ST. Peter's to Morell was once again unpassable caused by the drifting snow on Friday. We had to turn around again and do this section of trail for the 4th time in less than 12 hours. Once again the operator was forced to unhook several times to bust down banks on a trail that was just done a few hours before. Thank fully we were able to finish this portion again before heading East again through the night to give Trail # 225 and #321 near Elmira a couple passes of the groomer. The machine will not be running on Saturday as we need to give our operators an much needed break as well we expect to see lots of traffic on the trails. Please everyone have a safe and enjoyable weekend of riding.

Island 4 Trail

The snow we received Thursday has definitely made a huge difference in the trail system in the Eastern end of PEI. The groomer had been busy for 45 straight hours after the snow and has gone grooming on Friday and Saturday nights and will go again on Sunday night as well. Most of the trails in the east have had at least four passes and are in great shape. The additional 5-10 cm of snow we received in the east on Sunday is also going to be welcomed. On Saturday night the groomer went from Grandview to the intersection of the #104 and #217 in Uigg. It then did a double pass of the 217 to New Perth. This was the third time doing this trail in 30 hours and it sure shows. We also did the #103 from Mt. Stewart into Georgetown with a double pass and it is also in great shape. Tonight (Sunday) the plan is to do the #104 from Murray Harbour to Mt. Stewart as well as the #105 into Mt. Herbert. The trails have been very busy over this long weekend and it is great to see so many people out. Just a reminder that the following restaurants in the East will be open on the holiday Monday (Islander Day). Red Claw Bistro in Souris just off the #106. The Holy Cow in Morell on Trail #100. Wood Island Cafe Express (just off the #104) in Wood Island. The Fortune Diner in Fortune on the new trail #321 which starts at the Dundas Irving in Dundas. The Deck at Ocean Acres. The Souris Striders at the Ski Park in Harmony Junction
