GROOMER REPORTS
Central Trail
Central Groomer Left Charlottetown yesterday morning and head West on Route 100 Railbed. We thought we would only be able to pan to pack what snow was there, but we were able to process a lot of the trail heading west. Groomer operator indicated that there is good snow from Charlottetown to Emerald. Continued west in Kensington where snow is blown off areas of the rail bed. Please try to stick to the trail as we had issues in the past and we want to continue to work with landowners and respect their wishes. We got to Summerside and got as far as the Dekker Road and the lack of snow there he turned back and headed to do the section to Borden. Emerald to Borden he reported was decent and was able to assist with a sledder off the trail. He proceeded back to Charlottetown from Borden and we did a driver swap in Hunter River and the new driver head east to Mount Stewart. Turning back there we did the finger into Coach's. If out during the day be sure to stop in and check out their new lunch menu that starts at 12.99. Today the central groomer is starting on the north side trail to fill ditches and berms in fields to make them safe. Give a wave to the operator as they are out and be patient when coming across them. They may not see you right away. Trail will hold up well with these frigid temps. We need more snow in the future but will try our best to keep going. Sled safe and stay to the right.
Eastern Grooming Trail Report
On February 6th, the Eastern Groomer left home base in Grandview without the drag to start opening up trails. The groomer opened up the 313 through Orwell and Vernon River. Then proceeded back on the 313 to the 425 and opened the 425 from the Macrae road to floating bridge. The groomer then returned on the same trail heading back to home base to hook onto the drag. Once the drag was hooked on the groomer left on the 313 back towards 425 and floating bridge. The machine was put to the test with large drifts and deep snow. The groomer returned to Grandview for fuel and then proceeded to the 313 to Orwell before having mechanical issues, which caused it to return back to home base early Friday. These issues have been address today, Saturday February 10th, and the groomer will head back out once the temperature drops back down below freezing and snow conditions are right.
Eastern # 1 Trail
Eastern Groomer left from Harmony Junction on the #100 heading West towards Toymaster Motor Sports on Friday Evening February 7th. It did a double pass from Mount Stewart to Toymaster before returning back to Mt. Stewart and heading towards Georgetown on the #103 and Montague on the #222. After returning to Mt. Stewart with a double pass it headed back to Harmony Junction before changing operators and heading down the Ashton Trail (#221) towards Cardigan. Trails are decent but there are sections that definitely can use more snow.
Island #4 Trail
The groomer has been out several times this week doing the very best it can with the limited snow conditions we have and with very little new snow to work with it has created some bare spots in the trail system. Last night (Saturday February 7th) the groomer left from Grandview on the #104 and went South towards Murray River and Murray Harbor. First it did a double pass of the #305A before continuing down the #104 towards Ocean Acres and Murray Harbor. We also did a pass into the new Wood Islands Trail into the Wood Islands Cafe Restaurant (Great spot to stop for a bite). Groomer then returned back on the #104 for fuel and then continued up through Lake Verde and took the Trail #105 into Mt. Herbert. Once again there are sections of this trail that the gravel is really starting to become a issue. It is so sad that we have had decent temperatures for the last 4 weeks but what a difference 15 more cm's would have made. Anyway we are doing the best we can with limited snow. We will update in a day or two where the groomer is travelling
KASA
Tomorrow is going to be busy on the trails with lots of sleds on the go , the groomer operators have been doing a awesome job getting the trails done and we are very appreciative of them , tomorrow pine tree lodge is having a BBQ and springside is having there Chilli day , with that being said just a reminder that we share the Warburton/Old princetown road trail at the millvale end with some vechicles so be aware of this and it was also brought to my attention that there are 2 cows on the loose in Fredericton area, they were spotted on the rail bed today so be aware of that as well, happy sledding because this Wednesday's forecast isn't looking good , would really appreciate if people would share this post Thank you KASA Well it’s been a long two days between unhooking drag to bust drifts and getting a truck off the trail and just heavy slow going but a pass has been complete on all Kasa trails.
