GROOMER REPORTS

Central Trail

Groomer Left Winsloe monday morning and headed east on the 100 to Borden.  Snow is taking a pounding but is still good for the conditions that we have. Groomer returned to winsloe monday evening.  We are now(tuesday) Heading towards Summerside on Route 100 East and plan on opening the Warburton Road trail for KASA now that it is marked.  Please stay to the trail markers that are in the fields as we have been alot of calls from land owners complaining of crop damage from sledders.  This is one of the reasons why some of the cross country trails have not been groomed yet as for fear of crop damage on the private lands that we use.  Transportation has also called saying with the upcoming weather they will be opening alot of the ditches for water to flow so be careful when approaching all road crossings.  The weather has gotten a bit better than it was 2 days ago so hopefully it keeps changing for the better .  Sled safe and stay right.  If given the opportunity, thank the groomer operators and volunteers.  Without them we would not have what we got.

Eastern #1 and Island # 4 February 17th Update

It has been a busy couple of days with three groomers going in the east, trying to get everything opened after the wind and snow from Thursday. All trails in the east have been given a minimum of two passes with some sections like the #103 from Mt. Stewart to New Perth have had three as has the # 104 from Mt. Stewart to Grandview. Trails are not perfect and have not had much time to set up with the amount of traffic seen yesterday on the eastern trails. I was told at 8.00 am this morning there had been 7 trailers with sleds heading east in a fifteen minute span from Mt. Albion to Charlottetown so today is also going to be a busy day. Please keep to the right and ride safe. For those who love to cross a road and hit the throttle sending snow back on to the road we sure wish you wouldn't do it because transportation will soon be asking us to go clean it up. There will be no groomers on the trail today but the plan is to send them out tonight after it slows down

Island 4 Trail

The groomer left Friday morning from Grandview heading west on the #104 towards Mt. Stewart, then did  double pass into Toymaster on the #100 before returning back through Lake Verde on the #104. Groomer also went into Mt. Herbert on the #105 before returning to Grandview for fuel. Few minutes of topping up with fuel and DEF and then on to Murray Harbour and Ocean Acres also on the #104, throughout the night. After returning to Grandview with another double pass, we changed drivers and headed down the #217 through Greenfield towards New Perth. Finished this trail and as I write this post the groomer is heading down the #305 towards Murray River. With the very crusty snow we have because of the rain on Thursday night it is not flowing through the drag as well as it should but the trail is still coming out decent behind the drag. The one positive we have is little or no blowing snow, unlike the western end of the province which seems like a blizzard up there

KASA Trail

Yesterday the groomer made another trip to rustico via the 308. Fields are bared off this way in places but in the woods seems to be holding up well. Very little drifting in like we’d hoped. The 208 Warburton bridge trail to railbed was done again as well and as expected was well drifted in as we got closer to the highway. Use caution from the millvale road into the bridge seems like there may be someone living in a cabin in there or checking on it we seen truck tracks going in. Will find out more soon. Groomer will be parked Thursday to thaw and hopefully get gps issues attended too. Will look about making one more pass before weekend traffic.

Springside Trail

The groomer left home base last night at 9:30 with the pan and did the #301 to the intersection of the #209/211 , did the #211 through to Fredericton to meet the #100. Turned and went back to home base. He left with the drag this morning and is on the #213 behind Lank's farm in Hampshire and will be doing into Cornwall and North River and the New Haven loop #409 Reports are that the trail is setting up much better and that the air is out of the fluffy snow ! Ride right , with your permits on and watch for the flashing lights !
