GROOMER REPORTS
Central Trail
Friday was a busy day in the central area. Early friday morning the operator left winsloe and did a pass over The North side Trail (212). Plough fields are still very rough so proceed with caution. Was able to cut some of the drifted areas and finished the loop back to Winsloe. Decided to leave it sit for the day as we knew with the weather coming traffic would be high through out the day. Reports back were that the trail was still good with traffic over them. Friday evening operator left Winsloe and went west (100) to Kinkora. With the marginal snow coverage towards Summersdie we decided to head back and east and do the rest of the trail towards Mt Stewart. With the weather being as cold as it will be for the next two day we will get the groomr in and thaw and do a quick maintenece check on it and have it ready for when the snowand winds are letting up on Monday\Tuesday. Operators still seeing alot of use in the center of the railbed. Please stay to the right to preserve what we have longer as it is easier to spread when the center is not grooved out. Have a great weekend. Bundle up if you are heading out!
Eastern Grooming
After a few minor issues earlier in the week the Eastern Groomer Committee Groomer has been active after minor repairs. Most trails including the #305 have had a couple of passes at night this week. Trail # 425 was done on Thursday night as well as a double pass on the #104 into Murray Harbor. Trail #313 from Greenfield to Vernon River has also had a double pass and the #217 from Uigg to Vernon has also been done twice and is in great shape. Please get out and enjoy the trails as it appears that winter will be here a little longer with the expected extra snow coming
Eastern 1 Trail
Located in the Souris area this groomer left Harmony Junction on Tuesday morning heading East on the #100 towards Mt. Stewart, passing through St. Peters and Morell. Groomer was mostly panning so it didn't take any of the light fluffy snow off the trail. This trail was done twice, up and back to the Ashton turnoff (Trail # 221) where it continued throughout most of the night before getting into some trouble on a very icy hill near Cardigan. Unfortunately, we were forced to leave the groomer there for a few hours till morning when we were able to get some assistance from Cardigan Excavators and their excavator to get up the hill (Thank you owner Michael Rice). Once the groomer got going again early this morning if finished it's run to Cardigan, and also did Trail # 311 through Lorne Valley. Groomer proceeded back towards Dundas on the #221 before turning off at the Dundas Irving and grooming the new trail into Fortune and then heading back the same way. Welcome to a couple of new partners in the Fortune area, the Fortune Bridge Diner (restaurant) and Fortune Travel Stop (Gas station). Groomer is now heading East on the #100 to Elmira and will also be doing the #225 from Elmira and going into Souris on the #106. Trails up East and turning out very good. Like everywhere on PEI we can still use some more snow on some the cross-country trails. More updates later
Island 4 Trail
Well that was a very nice dumping of snow and for the first time this winter it appears that the East did not hog it all. Great to see the entire Province got decent snow. The Groomer left this morning with the box drag busting banks and opening up roadways for visibility purposes. This does not leave a perfect trail but it does make a very passable trail. He has opened up the #104 from Grandview to Pisquid and has traveled along the #103 towards Georgetown before returning back to New Perth to head down the #217 where we will go towards Murray River on the #104 to break down the large banks in the Iona area. Operator said there were many spots with large banks so please if you are out be careful. The plan is to have the drag on by around 9.00 pm tonight and go throughout the night and again tomorrow with the drag. It is going to take some time to get the trails in perfect shape and may need two or three passes over everything to get back into great shape. We will keep it running around the clock hopefully if the temperatures are cold enough. I will provide another update in the morning
KASA Trail
February 6 Yesterday the groomer began his day in Springvalley completing the 304 loop along with the 206 hall rd where the drifts and snow were plenty then made his way to the cell tower on the 208. After fueling and swapping drivers they then did a run to Fredericton and rustico completing the 208 and 308 as well as into Stanley on the 404. Surprising what snow remains in the fields although scarce conditions in the woods. With cold temps the trail was setting up good and hard. New London french River trail is on the agenda for today
Springside Trail
Groomer went out last night to help remove a large tree on the Ross Road, thank you to Spencer , Jeremy and Chris for the help. Since he was that far out. he finished up the 211 to Fredericton with the drag so it has been gone through from Home base, the 301 over to the 211 and over to the 100 in Fredericton and back to home base.
Western Trail
The groomer is leaving shortly to do East to Miscouche and doing the West end of the Grand River Trail. When it returns it will be heading West to Tignish. So if you are out and about watch for the flashing lights
